The Spanish for Professionals Multimedia Programs are designed to enable non-Spanish speakers to carry out their professional responsibilities courteously and effectively with a minimum of language skills. Job-related commands and useful phrases are taught through a variety of media. Special attention is given to mastering the Sentence Generator concept that allows learners to create more than 1,000 sentences from just 39 core words.

Professionals are taught strategies that allow them to maintain control of job or task-related conversations even with a limited vocabulary. Students learn to replace "open-ended questions” with either commands or multiple choice questions. For example, in the Spanish for Health Professionals program, health providers are taught to replace: "What's the matter/problem?" with the clear and direct polite command, "Please show me with your finger where you have pain / a problem." Rather than "What kind of pain do you have?” health care professionals learn to ask, “Is it a dull, sharp, or pulsating pain?"
